Hearing Surveillance (Audiometry)

Noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) is a serious and preventable occupational health injury in many work places. Interval Hearing Surveillance (Audiometry) can identify at-risk employees and give clarity on the effectiveness of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and control measures.

It is essential that all employees are screened at the pre-employment stage and at intervals if they are working in noisy areas.

The test is usually conducted by a nurse and takes approximately 20 minutes. The occupational physician will then discuss the result of the test and give advice if necessary.
